The situation of travel agencies is more than catastrophic.
Here is the opinion of a trusted tour operator with whom we had the chance to participate in a trip to India. Currently some people postpone their trip sometimes by a year, sometimes by six months. If we have to reimburse, we all go bankrupt in the travel agency sector. On our side we try to offer a voucher if due to confinement the traveler cannot get to his destination, there are two choices: either a voucher or a refund. This last situation was recalled by Test-Achat and by Didier Reynders. Today, it is not yet known how the airlines will react to this crisis. The various measures (temporary unemployment, bridge rights, etc.) will not be enough to fill the huge shortfall caused by this pandemic. Here, if we are talking about financial reimbursement, we are talking about millions of euros even for a company like mine. Now, we are adapting and we are going to prepare for the summer of 2021.
