The story is presented here in a new and modern form. Puran Bhat, the director chose to burst the castelet usually reserved for puppets to allow a dialogue between puppeteers - who are also storytellers, singers and dancers - and puppets.

Lady Meng is a particularly prominent figure in the Buddhist and Taoist worlds. In the hereafter, no soul can claim a reincarnation without meeting it and drinking its potion, a drink that has the virtue of erasing any memory of previous life, the soul on the way to reincarnate. In popular belief, Dame Meng is thus known as the mistress of oblivion and rebirth of the hereafter.
The Taiwanese company Jin Kwei Lo Puppetry was founded in the sixties by Ko Chiang Szu-Mei, the first woman to have initiated this art, hitherto reserved exclusively for men.
