Children of Piraeus II
The pursuit of a success story as Greek as it is delicious!
As so often, the most beautiful stories of restoration are not the result of chance.
The Horeca is a sector that we have in the blood or not and this is precisely the case of the brothers Vassili and Costa Karagianis.
Born in Belgium to parents who arrived here in 1963, these two dynamic entrepreneurs began their professional life in the hospitality sector at the age of 14 by entering the restaurant industry as one enters religion.

They decided to embark on their own adventure in 1988, with the creation of what, at the start, was a classic Greek restaurant, as there were many in our country.
This modern approach, both in the frame and on the plate, without compromising on authenticity, is also the one that led to the creation of a second address of the same brand, in Uccle avenue Prince de Ligne.
This is where La Maison d´Attila restaurant used to be, a stone's throw from the Vivier d'Oie train station.
Here too, with a magnificent decor that is both warm and contemporary, produced by the same Pierre Bourgois, the Karigianis brothers were going to experience a magnificent influx from the opening of their "Les Enfants du Pirée II", largely due to the ear of happy customers to come and extend their adventures started with appetite on the other side.
In this new setting, we find all the know-how of a team, some of whose members have been there for twenty years and are constantly evolving.
Even better, beyond their initial training, seasoned cooks regularly follow courses with big names in Greek cuisine.
On arrival this gives on the one hand a menu giving pride of place to the major Greek specialties not to be missed: the hearty platters of mezze, of course but also vine leaves stuffed with lemon sauce, moussaka, lamb giouvetsi as well as a whole variety very nice grills…
Without forgetting the magnificent pieces such as the roast suckling pig in the splendid roasting pan which is admired by all lovers of beautiful tasty meats.
All of this and, in addition, in the form of regularly reviewed suggestions, a whole series of significantly sharper preparations in the register of mezedakia, that is to say succulent little dishes to nibble on in the spirit of the best ouzeries.
A magnificent fried smelt with black tarama in cuttlefish ink, sweet poultry livers in sweet mavrodapne wine, a generous baïldi imam (an eggplant stuffed with vegetables and au gratin), a saganaki of metsovitiko (casserole of smoked cheese au gratin) ), a nice plate of octopus and fava salad (a delicious mash of yellow peas), or even perfect ouzo shrimp, chard and white tarama, served on a charcoal bread.
To be noted, as well as an aperitif to share, but also as a starter or as a dish, the impressive platter of 1 kg of prawns fried in olive oil and southern spices, simply served with tsatsiki. But also, for vegetarians, a series of guaranteed meat-free suggestions and, for children, a selection of delicious and affordable dishes.
To water this, there is of course the wine list, which gives pride of place to a Greek vineyard which has known over the past twenty years breathtaking progress. And especially the little wonders produced in Crete by a family of enthusiasts.
But also, in a very traditional way to accompany the mezedakia, a more than friendly and rare assortment of ouzos and tsipouros (brandy brandy flavored or not), offered in bottles of 10 and 20 cl ...
To finish the meal, lovers of traditional Greek sweets will not be disappointed, with a collection of classic pastries like baklava and other kadaïfis, but also pretty specialties made with sheep's milk or even more specific suggestions, like karydopita ( a nut and chocolate cake)…
Note that all of the ice cream that may accompany these desserts is made by ice-cream maker Pacitti.
So, as well for a tender face to face as for a happy friendly or family meal, Les Enfants du Pirée II will undoubtedly constitute an address as essential as sympathetic to warmly recommend to friends!
