Corona or not, the storks of the ZOO Planckendael have given themselves to heart this year!
The storks have never cracked so hard.
The ZOO Planckendael stork colony has grown further and set a new record.
This year, Planckendael has no less than 77 nests in the park.
These are 17 more nests than in 2019, which promises a lot of chicks that we are already starting to hear squawking.
Last year, the largest colony of storks in the country included 160 individuals.
Today, the Planckendael healers count no less than 180 birds.
The couples are installed in their nest and are in full incubation.
Hopefully this record number of nests will also lead to a record number of storks this year.
For l'hour, the ZOO Planckendael already has around 25 storks aged 1 to 14 days.
A camera was placed in one of the park's nests.
zant male of this nest is a particularly attentive father who regularly takes over from his female to watch over his offspring.
Each year, he raises a nice number of young birds.
This year, the couple had 5 storks, while an average stork nest generally has 2 to 3 young.
