Porsche again produces sports cars
Wednesday, April 29, 2020 -
From Monday (May 4), Porsche will restart production, depending on the location and the task.
All necessary measures were taken in advance to guarantee maximum safety for the employees and to gradually increase production to full capacity.
As production increases at the main factory in Zuffenhausen and at the Leipzig site, all workers will gradually resume work.
The correct production, logistics and delivery processes have been agreed with the works council and the health management department. The requirements of the respective authorities will also be complied with.
“The restart is an important signal - both for our employees and for our customers.
We have followed and analyzed the situation very carefully from the start and flexibly adjusted the processes.
Now is the time to take an optimistic view of the future and return to work - subject to special precautions, ”said Albrecht Reimold, a member of Porsche AG's production and logistics management.
A complete catalog of measures has been drawn up for the Porsche factories in Zuffenhausen and Leipzig.
These measures are not only of paramount importance for the protection of workers, but are also intended to allow the resumption of orderly and efficient production in the shortest possible time.
For example, production workers must maintain a minimum distance of 1.50 meters, follow basic rules of conduct, or work with a face mask in certain areas.
Medical institutions and medical personnel have the highest priority at Porsche when it comes to equipping protective clothing.
The company therefore organizes equipment as part of the "Porsche aid" initiative and also donates money to hospitals and food to food banks; the donation budget has been increased by five million euros.

“It takes a lot of effort to restart the economic and social system.
Everyone has to contribute, ”said Oliver Blume, chairman of the board of directors of Porsche AG. “It is important to have a positive basic attitude. Every crisis also offers opportunities. And we want to make the most of it. The company initially ceased production at its two plants on March 21, 2020 for a two-week period and announced it would continuously review the situation. Due to bottlenecks in global supply chains, factories remained closed for a total of six weeks, because orderly production was not possible.
In addition to stopping production, Porsche also decided to implement a number of other stricter measures at the time.
These will remain in force until further notice to reduce the infrastructure burden on the sites: this means that the significantly increased level of "mobile work" will continue in the indirect areas, and the meetings will be held in the form of video conferences or conference calls .
The ban on business travel will also continue to apply.
